Product Service Code

Every solicitation and contract carries a PSC, a short code that says what is actually being purchased, from janitorial services to helicopter parts. It is different from your NAICS code: NAICS describes your industry, PSC describes this specific requirement, and the contracting officer picks it, not you. Search tools and buyers both filter by PSC, so knowing the codes that match your work helps you find postings that a NAICS-only search would miss.

"This requirement is classified under PSC R408, Program Management/Support Services." That four-character code, not the project title, is what a lot of search filters actually match on.
